Misericordia Et Spes Africa Connect is the brainchild of our Founding and Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel C. Nyong Ph.D. Fr. Emmanuel comes from the remote community of Essien Itiaba in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State Nigeria. The home Catholic Parish of St. Pius X, Essien Itiaba founded Cardinal Ekandem International Nursery School Ikot Itie Udung in the year 2000 to avail the local community of a Catholic /nursery school education as distinct from the public schools with poor quality of education. However, the parish soon started facing financial difficulties as the cost of nursery education kept rising. In 2013 when Fr. Emmanuel celebrated his priestly silver jubilee; he handed over the proceeds and gifts from friends to the school to assist in the payment of teachers' salaries. He continued supporting teachers’ salaries, sponsored teachers’ improvement education, offered scholarships to some students, and assisted in skills development with his personal salaries.  

At the age of 60 in December 2019 Fr. Emmanuel decided to embark on the project of building a school hall with a library and computer laboratory for the nursery school and the public Elementary School students in the community. This project is still at the foundational level as COVID-19 hit and slowed down the project. Additionally, there are demands for scholarships, support for healthcare, training in different fields, etc. In September 2022, Fr. Emmanuel with the help of some friends founded MISERICORDIA ET SPES AFRICA CONNECT (MESAC) as a non-profit organization to reach out to the most vulnerable people in our community and in Africa. Our founding director is inviting you to join him to extend love and compassion to our children, the sick, and the most vulnerable people in our communities.
